Amazing Grace is more than a song . . .

From Anita Schneider via email and shared with permission because as she said – “Yes, it is to be shared!!!”

Thought I should share a portion a Bible study with you as it ministered to my heart greatly about my own “complaints”.

***I have been meditating on Numbers 11 again, and I just wanted to share with you how I’m constantly amazed at God’s unmerited and unearned grace in this Bible account.

One of the things that the Israelites did repeatedly when they were in the desert was to complain. For example, when God fed them with manna from heaven, some of them said, “We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!” (Numbers 11:5-6)

It was as if they had forgotten that God had delivered them from slavery and the whips of their harsh Egyptian taskmasters. Instead of appreciating the manna from God, they despised it and longed for the foods that they had eaten when they were slaves. Yet, one of the most touching things I found in this passage is that when they went to sleep, the manna fell – “when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it”. (Numbers 11:9) In other words, God kept on providing the manna despite their complaining!

You may have been complaining a lot lately. Perhaps it’s because you are going through a tough time. And because you know that your attitude toward God hasn’t been very good, you believe that God is ignoring you. My friend, I want you to know that like the manna, His mercy drops are still falling on you regardless of your attitude! (God’s blessings are based on Jesus’ finished work alone – this is indeed His amazing grace!)

Also, notice that the manna fell during the night. The night speaks of your darkest moments. In your darkest moments, YOU ARE NOT ALONE – God is right there caring for you, watching over you and working things out for good!

Whatever the trial that you’re going through, know that God is able to work all things out for good, an that His Father-heart desires to give you good things. (Romans 8:28, Matthew 7:11)

As God’s beloved, you have a different spirit today – you have the Spirit of Sonship, and you are an heir of God through Christ! (Galatians 4:4-7)

God wants you to look to Him, and cast all your worries and cares to Him, for He cares for you! (1 Peter 5:7) You Father is infinitely ineterested in your total well-being!***

Be Blessed and Know that we serve a LIVING GOD!

Your Sister in Christ,

Anita

[Editor's note: Anita and I met years ago and grew up in the Lord together. We've laughed and cried and prayed together through the years. She is faithful to call us to prayer and unite us in prayer often even now and from a distance. She is a prayer warrior for sure. But I must tell you that no one can sing Amazing Grace like she does with her voice and with her life. Blessings dear one and thank you for sharing this call with us and for letting me share it with everyone here. May God give it into the hands and hearts who need to hear it both now and evermore! Lots of love/Sandie]
